Project NRS (National Readership Survey)

NRS databases are used for media planning by the advertising agencies, as well as for analysis of the audience profile and the position of any publication in comparison with the competitors - by mass media. The research is carried out in Kazakhstani cities using face-to face interviewing method.


Data sources:

  

Periodical surveys of population + printed media monitoring


Measurement:

  • Readership audiences of 300 newspapers and magazines of various periodicity
  • Monitoring of 45 national and Almaty publications

Research Method and Design:

  

Kazakhstan - face-to face interviews
Almaty - telephone interviews using computers (CATI)

Universe _ Kazakhstan:

  • Urban population at the age 15 years and over (15+) in 11 cities with population 200,000 and over that equals
    • over 3.1 million. people
    • 27.6% of the total population
    • 49.3% of urban population

Universe _ Almaty:

  • Almaty population 15+
  • Over 850 thousand people

Data Presentation on:

  • Kazakhstan - three times a year
  • Almaty - three times a year

Sample Size

  • Kazakhstan - about 5,000 respondents
  • Almaty - 1,000 respondents

Sample Design:

  • Kazakhstan - similar to MMI sample
  • Almaty - a random selection of a household telephone number from the apartment telephone database; and an appropriate respondent is randomly selected in the household

Press Monitoring Technology:

  • Daily registration of all advertisements in 45 national and local press periodicals in Almaty
  • Double processing with subsequent correction of the database

Data Supply:

  • Database or periodic reports
  • Kazakhstan data- three times a year (January \ May \ November)
  • Almaty data- three times a year (January \ May \ November)
