Project Radio-Index

Main research objective is to provide specialized database containing characteristics of radio stations' audiences, allowing to not only analyze the audience structure but to create media-plans on 15-minute levels with all necessary media characteristics (GRP, Reach, Frequency, etc.) Research is carried out using one-week diaries that allows to receive the most accurate information on radio listening in time intervals.

Measurement:

  • Of audiences of all national and regional radio stations in Almaty and cities with population 200,000 +
  • Monitoring of all national and local stations in Almaty

Possibilities (scope):

  • Determination of prime-times for each radio station
  • Measurement of the radio audiences and their characteristics
  • Dynamics of audience's changes and shifts
  • Calculation of main statistics used for media-planning
  • Audit of advertisement placement on the radio
  • Advertising budgets/expenditures and advertisers on the radio

Diary Panel Method and Design:

  

Daily completing of individual diaries during one whole week

Universe _ Kazakhstan:

  • Urban population at the age 15 and over (15+) in 11 cities with population 200,000+ that equals
    • Over 3.1 million people
    • 27.6% of total population
    • 49.3% of urban population

Universe _ Almaty:

  • Almaty population at the age 15 and over
  • About 850 thousand people

Data Presentation on:

  • Kazakhstan - three times a year
  • Almaty - three times a year

Sample Size

  • Kazakhstan - about 2,500 respondents
  • Almaty - 600 respondents

Sample Design:

  • Kazakhstan - similar to MMI sample
  • Almaty -random selection of a household from the whole list of households in Almaty and then a random selection of a respondent within the household

Radio Monitoring Technology:

  • 24-hour recording of all national and Almaty local stations' broadcast in digital format
  • Double processing of the radio broadcast recording with subsequent database correction
  • Information storing on computer hard drive

Data Supply:

  • Database or periodic reports
  • Kazakhstan data- three times a year (January \ May \ November)
  • Almaty data- three times a year (January \ May \ November)
